A table showing usual language development of a person's first language from birth to KS4. Breaks down the typical development into Understanding, Expression, Speech and Social. If using with EAL children, establish the typical development in their home language; if normal pattern, English should be obtained fairly easily. If home language delayed, there will be a delay in learning English. Very useful also for EYFS.

Termly assessment of phonemes and graphemes known. Using a different colour each assessment, I draw a semi-circle above for phoneme known and underneath for grapheme known. Listed in order of teaching from Phases 2 and 3 of Letters and Sounds phonic teaching materials.

A word mat designed to support writing about The Bad Tempered Ladybird by Eric Carle. Sectioned in to Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers and Punctuation. Also contains the VCOP superheroes (thanks to Butterbeer and ilovemarmite) and on the reverse has images and clock times for the different animals the bad tempered ladybird encountered in the story.

A wordmat designed to mirror the VCOP display board in KS1. Includes VCOP superhero images courtesy of butterbeer and ilovemarmite. Double-sided wordmat - 1 side with VCOP sections, flipside with half-completed pirate similes, and well-known pirate sayings. Useful for writing about pirates or creation of a pirate adventure story.

A step-by-step instructional PowerPoint inspired by Eric Carle's tissue paper collage artwork and http://artolazzi.blogspot.co.uk/2010/05/grouchy-lady-bug.html . You will need white card, coloured tissue paper (or white tissue paper and paint), scissors, PVA glue and paintbrushes/ spreaders, black tissue paper and black card to mount.

4 images of zoo animals in a 'cage&'. To be laminated and hole-punched, or stuck onto thick card and small snips at the top and bottom edges made. The children can then lace a thread or weave some string/wool, depending on their fine motor ability. Children to each research a country playing in the Euro 2016 tournament. To complete the sheet with the name of the country they are following, the capital city and any languages spoken. Also to draw and colour the national flag, colour in where the country is on the map and colour in the country's Euro 2016 football strip.
